We have a guest article today on our favorite
subject from one of my friends, Rev Richard Rogers
of Unity of Phoenix, Arizona. I'll have a few comments
of my own to add, too. So enjoy!

"God gave you 86,400 seconds today. Have you used
one to say "thank you?" --William Ward
"Sometimes we become so engrossed in our daily routine
of life we become forgetful of the fact that we are children
of an abundant, loving God. We begin having negative
feelings and attitudes. The best antidote to this is invoking
the spiritual principle of gratitude.
From our youth we were taught the appropriate response
to a kind word or action was "thank you." But gratitude is
more than mere responses. It is the choices we make as
the events of our life unfold.
If we are facing an unpleasant circumstance, we can either
panic, complain, blame, OR, we can direct our sights
upward, bless the situation, and from a consciousness of
gratitude, release it to God.
Jesus gave us the perfect example when "he ordered the
crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking the five
loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and
blessed and broke and the disciples gave them to the
crowds." (Matthew 14:19) Jesus showed how our
needs are met if we look away from the problem and
focus our gratitude on what we do have.
As we give thanks for what we currently have, we
appreciate it more, and by the law of attraction, the
universe increases our supply even further. The tendency
is to think our supply comes from our paycheck, bank
account or our pension. We need to be mindful that God
is our source. There are many unlimited channels through
which Spirit blesses us, but only one source-God.
If we, "rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all
circumstances hold fast to what is good" (Thessalonians
5:16-22), we will magnetize our blessings and be truly
prosperous and abundant.
In times when we are experiencing a loss, hardship or
walking through a "dark night of the soul," it is especially
important to remain in a consciousness of faith, trust,
appreciation and expectation. "Have no anxiety about
anything; but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God."
(Philippians 4:6) If we open our hearts to God with gratitude,
our blessings will be multiplied infinitely and we truly will
know the kingdom is here-- right where we are."

It's interesting that virtually every faith tradition on
the planet has arrived at the same conclusion
about the inportance of gratitude to our well being.
Gratitude heals our hearts, heals our souls and
connects us with the Infinite Source of our good.
Some Christians may be surprised to learn that
Jesus consistently taught "gratitude in advance"
and that Paul wrote about gratitude in the midst
of troubles, but Richard has done an excellent
job of outlining the Christian position for the
importance of gratitude in all circumstances.
If you have a different faith tradition, look and see
what you can find about gratitude there. If you'd
like to share with us about that, send it to me with
the Comments form on the Daily Gratitude web site.
Have a great month. I am grateful for each and
every one of you!
Peace and love,
Wes
